Hello friends! Today I’d love to walk you through all the fashion and cool watches we featured in my recent Show Your Colors Modify Watches x Chic Steals Promotional Video. Some people have asked me: “Which Mod is she wearing?” or “Where did you get that dress?” so I’d love to do a look-by-look breakdown with links where to buy everything. This post may get a little long, but here goes!

To let you guys in on a little secret: There were actually 10 outfits we had planned to shoot for this video. On the shoot date, we were losing light quickly and had to cut 1 (a Nautical look) in order to get some of the more important ones in before the light changed too dramatically. In the edit, we also removed another 1 (Yoga Outfit) because we felt it didn’t add anything to the piece. So we ended up with 8 outfits, all seen above.

As I posted (quite awhile ago now!), skirts and dresses with faux sleeves tied in the front are a mini-trend that has made it all the way from the runways of Celine to everyday street style. It’s a cute way to define the waist and yet add a casual twist to any outfit. I figured it would be super-easy to re-purpose a sweatshirt into a little skirt with the sleeves as non-functional accessories. With 5 straight seams to sew, it’s also fairly quick and easy, even for sewing beginners. Here’s how to make your own version of this look: (more…)
Yes, folks, you may have noticed a slowdown in posts this week…and that’s because I’m currently in Tokyo, Japan right now.
My mother was hospitalized earlier this month and I’ve traveled here to take care of her as she recuperates (flashback to Spring of 2012 when I did the same thing). I only just set up the internet at her place (after figuring out how to connect through a LAN cable and setting up a PPPoE on my computer after the ad-hoc connection to her computer failed…what is THAT, right??! I mean, it’s not like my Mom’s PC & Windows 7 could actually make connecting to the Internet easy or something) and with everything that’s been happening I’m quite behind on my posting, social media, tutorials, and online sharing.
I’ll be catching up slowly in the next couple days – since I’ll be here for 3-and-a-half weeks, hopefully I’ll be caught up by then. 🙂

It’s kind of that in-between time of year, when it’s still blustery and cold, but signs of Spring are already showing. You still need to bundle up, but are craving some pretty colors and happy florals as comfort. With a lot of end-of-year sales going on, now is the time to snap up some great pieces that will work for the months to come. When I first started blogging back in 2008, Cut Out + Keep was the very first tutorial-sharing site that I joined. I loved its scrappy, can-do attitude and the welcoming community there. I just returned from spending 6 days in Honolulu, HI for a family wedding. My husband’s youngest brother was getting married, and Lil Tot was to be the ringbearer on this special occasion. We just happened to leave the day before Portland received a record amount of snowfall (the most snow since 2008!!) and we arrived back the day it melted. C’est la vie, or how they say in Japanese, shouganai. We had to be content with sun, surf, and sand instead. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have been seeing my updates.
