Have you guys seen Fabulous on a Budget? It’s a FABULOUS website all about being creative (with not a lot of cash), run by two DIY mavens: Mary Darling and Leah Ashley. I love their fun and glamorous aesthetic – and you may have also seen them on TV! They also have created videos for Style TV for the Look for Less! (Remember that show??? I LOVED it!)
When they contacted me asking if I’d like to guest-blog for them, I said heck yeah! I even went the extra mile and edited and laid out my photos in a Photoshop collage instead of just editing them like I normally would.
With just a bit of sewing and some glue, it’s super-easy to update a boring old cardigan into something Springy and fun. Please check out their website for the full how-to!

Odds are, if you’ve been living anywhere except under a rock you will have noticed Chan Luu‘s beautiful beaded wrap bracelets, which have been making the rounds everywhere from the Internet to the wrists of celebs since at least last year.
A little bit boho, a little bit dressy, these bracelets come in turquoise, jade, silver, and a whole variety of semiprecious stones and metals, woven onto leather cords, to add a bit of color and flash to your wrists.
Amazing DIY’er and beader Ruby Mines shared her tutorial last year for making your own (that won Fan Favorite in The Ultimate DIY Competition on Cut Out + Keep!)…and I have to say, I just couldn’t tell the different between the original and her version!! (I think she’s taken down her tutorial since I can’t find it any more…sorry!)

Now Alloy.com has come out with the exact same style of bracelet…except for $14.90. (And using glass, plastic, and wood beads and polyester cording.)
Which would you buy? Pay homage to the designer who came up with the original…or be frugal and snap up the cheaper version? Does the Chan Luu version deserve its $170 pricetag…and is it more ethical as a consumer to buy it?

I haven’t been sharing outfit posts as of late, partially because I haven’t been sure if my readers (youse guys!!!) are actually interested in seeing outfit posts or not. I’m not sure if I identify with being a Style Blogger exactly…maybe more of a DIY’er and how-to’er? Er. Er. So I’m always unsure of whether to share an outfit or not that really has no elements of DIY in it, because yes sometimes it does feel like I’m saying “Look at me! Look how stylish I am! I think I’m so pretty and here’s my photo to prove it!” On the one hand, it feels kind of vain, on the other hand, I myself like looking at other people’s outfit posts because not only do those photos give me a real sense of who those people are, but I also discover new and lovely items from others’ posts, and am awash with new ideas for styling and incorporating different elements into my daily wardrobe.
So anyway, for better or for worse, just to throw it out there…here’s what I wore yesterday.
