Like really stay away. Like we’re talking a blockade and police barricade.
Just a few things I picked up the other day at my local Tar-JAY.
The designer for their jewelry must be new (since I can’t find anything online confirming this, I’m just assuming…) because this stuff rocks. It’s the only way how I can explain how their jewelry (not the designer-collab stuff, just the regular costume jewelry sold at Target) sometime during the last year went from um, “nice” to “omigawd I want every piece right. NOW!!”
I love these edgy cuffs stacked together. Or apart!
And these rings, which can also be worn separately. Not too crazy about the rhinestone one, which looks kinda cheap IMHO, but I was thrilled to find the studded one since I’ve been on the hunt ever since Forever 21 stopped making their version. I also love the chain ring.
The nail polish is, too, from Target – O.P.I’s “Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow.” A dark jade green that is black in some lights and evergreen in others. It looks so sinister, even more so than I think black does. But I digress.
Ahh, the piece de resistance. This Stone Bib Necklace just looks so opulent and it elevates any outfit to a major ensemble in a flash.
Plus Target just got Temple St. Clair jewelry in, and I’m loving the ladies-who-lunch feel to their bauble drop earrings and jumbled charm bracelets. Who’s with me on this one??! 😉
Might just have to make a trip back, if I can get around the self-imposed barricade…

I happened upon an amazing deal a little while back on the HauteLook website. I’ve never actually purchased anything from them before. (What I can say is they ship a LOT faster than RueLala or Ideeli, considering purchases from them have taken 4-6 weeks to arrive.) Now there’s so many “members-only” sample sale sites that I’ve pretty much lost track, and a lot of the good stuff sometimes gets lost in the shuffle.
The week in question they were having a sale for Shoes: $100 and Under, which are pretty much magic words to my ears;-) Normally I would have trouble finding something in my fairly common 7.5 shoe size, but this time I happened upon the most gorgeous pair of Velvet Angels shoes – and just kept refreshing the screen repeatedly, muttering little prayers all the while.
And finally, 7.5 was in stock!
I snapped up these beautiful Optima Wedges, original retail price $295, for just over $60. Unbelievable!
And what was more unbelievable to me when they arrived was the quality. Beautiful crinkled leather, unique molded mirrored platform, footbed with velvet-covered metatarsal padding, and a sheer weight to them that “felt” like luxury (which I know is really just a concept, but bear me out). Plus they came in a lovely sliding box, just like a little drawer, ready to go in my closet.
I can’t wait to showcase these in an outfit! I’m thinking a little romper…and something handmade… we’ll just have to wait and see!
Of course, the Peanut Gallery just had to take them out for a spin before I could.;-)
I think maybe I should go a size down?

On formspring.me a reader asked what my 3 favorite earrings are. Well here they are! (Sorry I deleted the question by mistake when I went to post it to Blogger.:-(
These are usually the three that I reach for regardless of what outfit I’m wearing.
The oversized rhinestone earrings (from Forever21; no longer sold but a very similar pair here) I wear when I want to go crazy over-the-top glam…and they look surprisingly fun paired with an old t-shirt and jeans. Plus, for a really formal event (not like I have many to go to!) they’re perfect with an LBD for some retro glam.
The large hoops are light as a feather and I love the tiny star detail at the back. They’re for when I want to be a little more dressed up but more classic. (bought in Japan)
The small gold hoops are a recent purchase in Tokyo (LaForet Harjuku though I also found them in another store along Takeshita street there) – I really love secure-post small hoops in gold since I don’t have to take them out in the shower and can sleep with them in, and they still look chic and dressed-up with a number of different outfits. I love the subtle studding on the surface. Alas, I found that they have too much nickel in them for my sensitive ears – and the post is a bit too thick, so I’m still debating what to do. After wearing them for 3 days straight I got a massive infection in my right ear that took more than a week to clear up. *sigh* Sorry, maybe that’s a bit TMI!
I also tend not to wear earrings that much, since while my hair is short I wear it covering my ears a lot, and it seems kind of pointless to put in earrings when they can’t be seen anyway…
What earrings do you gravitate to? Hoops, studs, sparklies?
