Alicia DiRago from Dismount Creative has embarked on a new endeavor: interviewing DIY’ers and crafters in video episodes on her new site MakeIstheNewBuy.com!
I’m so excited about this, and can’t wait to see more episodes with other crafty people. She interviewed me last Thursday, and now the episode is available to view on the site! (WARNING – I am talking for a full 33 minutes!! Get me talking about DIY and that’s what happens LOL:-)

I felt shocked and devastated after the horrible events of March 11 in Japan…and even more so when I saw the reactions of numerous people (some anonymous, some not) on the Internet. I felt compelled to apologize to the Japanese people because of this.

I was floored by this video of Suzzanne Lee’s efforts into creating textiles utilizing bacterial cellulose (formed by fermentation in kombucha tea). Yup, “fabric” – well, more like leather – from BACTERIA.
What an amazing step forward in technology – I’m super-interested to see where this innovation will go once more R&D labs get ahold of it.
So this also begs the question: If they worked out the kinks in the fabric weight and texture…Would you wear clothing made by bacteria?

I never knew what Portland, OR was like until I moved here. See for yourself above…
This video had me cracking up.:-D It’s a pretty accurate portrayal of Portland…though that’s not a bad thing! (I really like living here, maybe because I missed the first half of the American 90’s experience since I was living in Japan.)
Now I have this song stuck in my head!!
